"Sun" by Jade M, Age 11, Year 7, Wadebridge School

********************

Sun

When the Sun went to sleep
and the Moon did not wake
up, there was just darkness.
For without the Sun or Moon,
there is no light to the world.

The Sun could not burst her
shine though the cloud’s.
The World became Shadowed
and Sad.

The Sun was tired of so much
work… so she decided to make
more Suns. But she blinded the
earth. It made her self sad, to
know that she had not thought of
others before thinking of her
one self.

The Sun thought back to a
long time ago, it made her sad.
She was so bright and big then…
now she is so small and dull.

Then she remembered that she
was the Sun. She was important.

"I Saw a Tree" by Jade M, Age 11, Year 7, Wadebridge School

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I Saw a Tree

I saw a tree,
My Mum thought she saw a Dog,
My Sister said it was a Caw,
My Dad said it was a Frog,

I saw a Mouse,
Nana said it was a loo,
My friend said it was a Rock,
My Cousin said it was a Poo,

I saw a massive Cat,
My Grandfather said it was a pole,
My Auntie said it was a man,
My Uncle said it looked like a Mole,

I said to them all,
“It was not a Dog, nor a Caw, not a Frog,
It didn’t look like a loo, it defiantly was not a Rock or a poo…
It’s not a pole, it’s not a Man and it is not, is not a Mole!”

I said to them,
“… It is a Cat eating a mouse up a tree!”

"Linda and the Lollipop Shop" By Jade M, Age 11, Year 7, Wadebridge Secondary School

.....................................

Linda and The Lollipop Shop

Linda was quite normal, there wasn’t anything extra special about her at all. But the one thing she loved the most was Lollipops, well her Mum and Dad came second. As she sat on her chair with a bubble gum flavoured lollipop hanging out of her mouth, trying to figure out her homework questions… something floated through her open window. It was a poster, it read…

The Lollipop Shop
Grand Opening Today
Come.

As Linda walked into the Lollipop shop door with a heart of joy… her joy fell and her loving smile turned into a disappointed frown. The floor was brown and old, there was two small Lollipops on one stand and one big half sucked Lollipop on the other. There was a grumpy man seated behind the desk, well even the desk wasn’t at all, remotely interesting. It was a large cardboard box painted yellow with a Lollipop in the shape of a car on the front. Linda went to the desk and demanded to see the manager of the shop,
“I demand to see the manager of this Lollipop shop.”
He looked at Linda and dialled a number on the phone next to him and put it against his nose.
“Sir… somebody wants to see you.” When he had finished he put it to his foot for a couple of seconds and then put it back to his nose,“Ok Sir.” He frowned and put the phone down, “Mr Stick, Pop, worth, Lollipop, Purple, Yellow, Red, Swirl…” he took a breath, “Will be here to see you in… 5 4 3 2 and-1.”
As he finished speaking a strange man popped up from a hatch on the floor.
“Yes, somebody wants to see me.” he said.
“I do… I have a complaint to make.” Linda folded her arms.
“Oh... and what would that be little girl?” He smiled softly. Linda sort of felt sorry for him.
“Poor him… he doesn’t even realise how bad his Lollipop shop is.” She thought to her self and announced, “You need better Lollipops! Brighter flooring!” Then she looked around and whispered to Sir Stick, Pop, Worth, Lollipop, Purple, Yellow, Red, Swirl… “And better staff.”
Sir, combed through his long, fuzzy, chocolate coloured beard and pointed to a bright red elevator, “Come, come!” He gave the elevator a kick and it opened, Linda and Sir walked inside. Sir pressed a round blue button with an arrow going down on it.
“Where are we going sir?” Linda inquired,
“To the middle floor.”
“Is that where all the Lollipops are made?”
“No, no small one… the Lollipops are made on the bottom floor. But that’s all so boring, you’ll want to see the middle floor.”
“Sir… is this like Willy Wonka and the glass elevator? But it’s not really, well… glass?”
“No, it’s Sir Stick, Pop, Worth’s… red elevator!” he laughed. Linda waited for a moment and then thought: they weren’t moving at all!
“Sir…” Linda asked.
“Yes my dear child.” He answered.
“Not to be rude or anything sir…”
“Yes…”
“But don’t elevators… well actually move?”
“Well my one doesn’t!”
“But, I thought that all elevators moved?”
“Not this one!” he laughed, “This one keeps us still while everything else moves.”
Linda thought that he must be on medication or something… until the elevator doors opened and revealed a world of wonders!

Linda didn’t dare blink, if so she was frightened it would all go away and it was just a dream.
“So what do you think-?” Sir asked,
“Linda,” she replied.
“So what do you think, Linda of my Lollipop Shop now?”
“It’s, it’s, it- it’s wonderful!” Linda shouted. The room was filled with Lollipop’s of all shapes and sizes, the floor was even made to look like a giant Lollipop.
“The floor! It is brilliant Sir!”
“It’s made out of a squashed Lollipop, it is so squashed that the Lollipop that it was, was only a couple of inches long!” he laughed, then walked over to the bright purple window, the size of the whole wall and said, “Even the window’s made out of Lollipop mixture!” He wiped his finger across it and sucked his finger, “Yummy!” he smiled taking the finger out of his mouth.
“I wish this never ends Sir!” Linda shouted, giving Sir a big hug.
“Nothing lasts forever Linda.” Sir smiled softly. Her smile disappeared.
“I just wish it would.” Linda whispered. She ran her finger’s through the yellow coloured stream that flowed through the middle floor.
“Can I drink some?” Linda asked, “I mean, is it drinkable?”
“Of course Linda child. Drink some if you want.” He laughed. Linda cupped her hands and scooped them into the stream. She took a sip of the sweet juice,“Ummmm, Lollipoppy!” Linda licked her lip’s. “Can I come tomorrow and the next day and the day after that and that next day and, and, and the day after the next?” Linda asked.
Sir was silent.
“Will you even be here the day after the next?” Linda was doubting it.
“Maybe.” Sir tried to sound jolly. Linda spent the whole day in the middle floor of the new Lollipop shop sucking on strange new flavours of Lollipops and drinking from the sweet stream.

“It’s tea time all ready!” Linda shouted looking at her watch, “I wish I didn’t have to go home!”
“The shop will close in a minute Linda,” Sir walked towards the elevator, “And I have to be off.” They got into the elevator and went up to the boring first floor that Linda had first came to.
As Linda walked out of the big double door’s she asked, “Where do you live Sir?”
Sir closed the doors behind her and shouted, “Here!”
Linda started to walk down the road and thought… If he lives here… then why does he have to be off? As she turned around and ran back to the shop, Sir had disappeared!
Suddenly a teeny umbrella poked out of the top of the building and started to go around and around. A small round hatch flung open and Sir’s head poked out of it.
“Where are you going!” Linda screamed.
“Away! To another place in the sky!” Sir shouted back.
“But you can’t go! You can’t!” Linda shouted.
“Nothing lasts forever Linda!” Sir Mr Stick, Pop, worth, Lollipop, Purple, Yellow, Red, Swirl… closed the hatch and flew away into the clouds.

"Spot on the Road" By Jade M, Age 11, Year 7, Wadebridge School

...................................

Spot on the road

Amy’s walk home from school was boring, very boring actually. She didn’t pass much on her walk, except for a news paper stand, an old village shop and lots of Council Houses. So normally she tried to do it as quick as possibly so that she could get back home and eat chocolate and drink lemonade. But today she was going as slow, as she could because she didn’t want to go home and give her parents something. She had done something quite bad at school, it was an accident, sort of! Her teacher had sent her to the Headmaster and she got told off a lot. Then the Head teacher wrote a letter and said to Amy,“When you get home give this straight to your parents!” she said, as she gave the letter to Amy and that was that! That was the reason she didn’t want to go home, because she would be in, big, big, big, big, big, big, big, trouble!

On the short walk home Amy held her school bag in one hand and the letter in the other. So far she had past several bins… but she couldn’t find the strength to do it. As she came past the news paper stand, a blue car whizzed past her and then suddenly stopped. A short man got out of the car and slammed the door… then he opened the back door and a smallish black, grey hound jumped out of the car. The man dragged the grey hound down an alley way by its lead and disappeared around the corner. Amy turned around and went down the alley way, she was worried that something bad might happen to the dog. She poked her head around the corner, just in time to see the man bend down and wrap the dogs lead around a post. Then man got up and walked back up the alley way… Amy ran up the alley way and hid behind the corner. Then the man walked over to his car looking around and got in… with out the dog! Once the strange man drove away, (in quite a hurry) Amy rushed down the alley way. The black dog was lying on the cold floor with his head tucked in his paws. Amy slowly gathered some courage and walked over to the dog, she was careful though… she didn’t know if this dog was friendly. The dog gave a little whimper and straight away she knew that something was wrong. She put her school bag down and tucked the letter in between the wall and the post. Gently she stroked the dogs head and it cuddled up with her. Then she noticed a small piece of paper tucked in the dogs, battered collar.

She took the paper out and looked at the writing…

My names Spot, my owner can’t take care of me any more. Please take care of me.

“Spot!” Amy cried out. The dogs ears pricked up and looked up at her… a kind person was finally here for him! She stood up, grabbed her school bag and stuffed the piece of paper in her bag. The dog stood up to and tried to follow her as she walked down the alley way. He pulled on his lead and barked.
“I’ve got to go and get help!” Amy explained, walking back. Spot gazed up at her, with his big, chocolate brown eyes and gave a pitiful whimper. Amy unwrapped his lead from the post and they walked briskly up the alley way… with Spot close to Amy’s legs, making sure that she wasn’t going anywhere. But Amy had forgot the letter.

Amy and Spot turned into Amy’s drive and up to the door, Spot still stuck to Amy’s leg. She rummaged through her school bag, until she found her house keys. She opened the front door and walked in, Spot followed. Amy closed the door behind them, Spot smelt the air and hid behind Amy’s legs. Amy’s mum came in with her rubber gloves on,“Oh hello Amy… how was- AHH!” she screamed, “Amy! Amy! There’s an over grown rat on the end of that lead!” Spot was hurt and disgusted… an over grown rat! How dare she! He looked back and forwards at Amy and Amy’s mum,
“He’s not a rat!” Amy bellowed, bending down and stroking Spot on his head, “He’s a black grey hound and his previous owner abandoned him. I found him down an alley way on my way back from school!” she picked Spot up and held him close. Amy’s mum gave a long sign and then said,“Well we’ll wait until your father gets back form work… and then we can take...”
“Spot.” Amy groaned,
“We’ll take Spot, to the Dog Shelter.”
“NO!” Amy shouted, “We can’t take him there!”
“Why Not?”
“Because, because… well we have to at least feed him first. He looks so hungry and thin.”
“But we haven’t got any dog food.”
“We’ve got bacon in the fridge.” Spot’s ears pricked up at Amy’s delicious words.
“Bacon! Bacon’s too good for a dog. Here,” Amy’s mum gave Amy a ten pound note, “Go down to the village shop and get some dog food for… for, Spot.” She huffed. Amy opened the door again and Spot tried to follow her,“No Spot you stay here with Mum… you can get warm.”
Amy’s mum called Spot into the front room and he curled up by the fire. When Amy got back, she got two bowls out and put a can of dog food in one and water in the other. She placed them on the kitchen floor.
“Spot,” she called, “Spot… come and have your dinner!” Spot rushed into the kitchen and sniffed at the food, he licked his lips and tucked into the can of dog food. Amy’s mum came in and her and Amy watched Spot demolish his food and start to slurp his water.
“So?” Amy asked hopefully,
“So what?” Amy’s mum walked over to Spot.
“So… can we keep him?”
“I don’t know Amy… Grey Hounds are a lot of work and-”
“But I can look after him!” Amy shouted, “I’ll walk him twice a day everyday and I’ll spend all my pocket money on food and stuff for him! Please mum! Please?” she begged.
Amy’s mum gave a big sigh and huffed,“Well I suppose we can’t get rid of him now,” Amy shook her head in agreement, “We’ll have to keep him!”
Amy hugged her mum and shouted,“Spot! Spot! You’re staying with me!”
“So how was school?” Amy’s mum asked, stroking Spot’s neck.
“School! Teacher! Letter!” Amy thought to her self. Amy quickly slipped Spot’s lead on and ran to the door. She opened the door and her mum asked,“Where are you two going?” Amy bit her lip,“We need… we need… more milk! Yes we need more milk.” Amy’s mum raised one eyebrow and went to the kitchen. Amy heard the fridge door open, Amy knew that there was a pint of milk in the fridge!
“But Amy we’ve got milk!” her mum shouted… but Amy and Spot were gone.

They rushed across the cross roads, past the shop, sprinted straight past the news paper stand, (sending several flying) and then they came to the Alley Way. Spot stopped, whined a little and hid behind Amy’s legs.
“Don’t worry Spot,” Amy comforted, “I’m here.” Amy ran to the post, but the letter was gone! She rummaged through the bin, opposite the post and found the letter stuffed inside an old turkey sandwich box.
Spot and Amy rushed home, at Amy’s drive she put the letter in her pocket. When she opened the door, her and Spot went straight upstairs.
When they were half way up the stairs, her mum asked,“Did you get the milk?”
“Shops were closed.” She mumbled and went to her bedroom. Amy didn’t know what to do, she lay in her bed awake with Spot’s warm body on her legs. She didn’t want to give the letter to her parents, because they might take Spot away from her! She stroked Spot’s head and his ears twitched.
“Oh Spot… what am I going to do?” Amy whispered. Spot opened one eye and then the other, he raised his head up and gave a little grumble as if to say, you’ve woken me up!
“Go back to sleep Spot.” she said and closed her eyes.

At 7:30am the next morning, Amy’s alarm went off. She sat up and turned it off, she rubbed her eyes and nudged Spot, (who was peacefully sleeping) he gave another grunt and sat up. He gave a long yawn and jumped off the bed. Amy watched Spot stretch and then scratch at the door eagerly. Amy and her dad walked to school with Spot dragging Amy all the way, Amy’s Dad had taken quite a shine to Spot, he’d always wanted a dog and he liked Grey Hounds. When they got to school Amy was puffed out, she sat down on the bench and handed Spot’s lead to Dad. Spot laid flat on the floor and Amy rubbed his tummy. Amy wanted to walk him to school so she could show him off to all her friends.

Once Spot had been, patted, stroked, tickled and cuddled by lots of boys, girls and several teachers… Amy said good bye and Dad and Spot went home. Spot missed Amy when she was at school… it was so boring. Amy hadn’t got him any toys yet and promised that she’d go to the pet shop when she got back from school, to buy him, food, bowls, a basket, a collar and some treats, and oh a lead of course!

When school was over Amy ran home as fast as she could. She did trip over and cut her knee, but she didn’t care! She wanted to get home, to see Spot! Mean while Spot waited by the door anxiously waiting for Amy to come home. Oh where was she? She’d been away for ages! As Amy came in, Spot jumped to his feet and started yapping so loud that Mum had to come and tell him to be quiet.
“Shhh Spot,” Amy whispered, “I know I’m back!” she threw her bag on the floor and the, letter fell out.
“What’s this Amy?” Mum asked picking it up, “It’s addressed to us.” Mum looked worried,
“It’s nothing!” Amy snapped and grabbed it,
“Amy!” Mum shouted, “Don’t snatch! Now give it here!”
“No!”
“Amy! Give it to me now, or you will be in deep trouble!” Spot backed into the corner and whimpered, he didn’t like this home after all.
“It’s nothing Mum!” Amy grumbled,
“Is it about school Amy?”
“No! Well… sort of.”
“Oh Amy! I told you-” the door bell rang.
“Saved by the door!” Amy thought to her self. Mum glared at Amy and opened the door, it was Amy’s head teacher, Mrs Lovewell. A tear rolled down Amy’s face.
“I think you know what this is about Mrs Harley?” Mrs Lovewell asked Mum.
“No… but I’d like to find out.”
Amy ran upstairs and sat on the top step… then listened. Mum was just about to call for her but Mrs Lovewell shook her head. Spot raced up the stairs and cuddled into Amy’s arms, she shooed Spot away and shut him in her bedroom. Why did she do that? What had he done wrong?
“I did clearly say to come and see me on the letter.” Miss Lovewell sat down.
“What letter?” Mum questioned,
“The letter Amy gave you?” Mum looked puzzled, “But of course Amy wouldn’t have done that.”
“Amy!” Mum bellowed, Amy ran into her bedroom and pushed her cabinet against the door. As she curled up into a ball she could here footsteps coming up the stairs. She had forgot all about poor Spot huddled underneath her bed, wishing Amy hadn’t found him tied to the post. He had to get out of this house and far away! He loved Amy, but Amy didn’t love him anymore!
He crept out from under the bed and spied the open window, he wanted to get away so badly, but he couldn’t jump out of a upstairs window… could he? He jumped onto the window ledge and looked around at Amy, tears were rolling from down her eyes. He jumped down and laid next to Amy, she looked at Spot.
“I’m so sorry Spot, I didn’t mean to be nasty! I just didn’t want you to be taken away from me!” she whispered.
The door handle went down and Mum shouted, “Amy! Open this door now and give me that letter!” Amy got up and looked at the letter.
“I can’t hide it for ever.” She thought to her self. As Amy slid it under the door, all she could hear was silence.
Mum read the letter carefully and then took a long sigh of disappointment.
“Well… if you could come by my office tomorrow, once you have spoken to Amy. That would be nice.” Mrs Lovewell said and walked down the stairs.

A couple of moments later, Amy pushed the cabinet out of the way of the door and her and Spot slowly walked out. Mum was sitting at the bottom of the stairs with Dad, he looked up at Amy and pointed to come to him. Amy looked at Spot and walked down the stairs. Dad passed Amy a plastic bag and she looked in,
“It’s stuff for Spot… but now I suppose we won’t be needing it any more!” he shouted. Inside the bag was a lovely, sparkling blue colour and matching lead, also a soft, red, cushioned basket, a little toy mouse, a rubber tire and a green blanket. Amy’s eye’s filled with tears once more,“No! No! You can’t take him away! No!” she screamed dropping the bag and holding onto Spot so tight that he coughed a bit.
“Amy! You’ve done a terrible thing… you should know that you should never hit anybody! And you made it ten times worse not telling us, or giving us the letter!” Dad shouted,
“Do you know how serious this is?” Mum asked, “Why didn’t you just give us the letter?” Amy let go of Spot and wiped her eyes, so that she could see through the tears.
“I didn’t want Spot to have to go away from me!” She screeched.
“Oh Amy!” Mum held her close and cuddled her.
“Spot’s part of the family now! We can’t just suddenly get rid of him.” Dad laughed,
“Really?” Amy looked up.
“Really,” Mum giggled, “Now come and sit down and tell us all what happened and maybe we can find a solution.”
“So I can keep Spot?” Amy asked, nervously.
“Yes.” Mum stroked him on the head, “Of course you can.” Amy bent down to Spot and put the beautiful sparkly blue colour on,
“You’re part of the family.” Amy whispered to Spot, “And you always will be.”

After Amy had, had her punishments and Spot no longer wanted to run away, him and Amy had been closer then ever. Everything was brilliant, until Amy met Lippy. It was the weekend and Amy had took Spot to see her friend, Kelly… not knowing about Kelly’s new pet.
“Oh he’s so cute!” Amy giggled. The little ginger rabbit sat at the back of its cage, munching on a piece of carrot. Spot snorted and rolled his eyes, he was cute too!
“Spot!” Amy turned around and shouted at him, “Don’t be so horrid!” Spot crouched down, Amy had never shouted at him before like that, what had he done that was so bad?
“Do you want to hold him?” Kelly asked, Amy looked around at Spot.
“I don’t know if Spot will like that.” Amy bit her lip, Spot grinned.
“Oh he’s only a stupid dog!” Kelly shouted, “He won’t care!”
Stupid dog! He won’t care! Spot could assure her, that he was nothing along the lines of stupid!
“If you say so!” Amy laughed.
Kelly passed the ginger rabbit cupped in one hand to Amy, she held it close. Spot glared at it, he decided to get a bit closer… for a second he got a sniff… but then a whack around the head! He whimpered and looked up… Kelly was glaring at him. Amy handed the rabbit back to Kelly and hugged Spot,
“Why did you do that?” Amy shouted.
“He was getting to close to Lippy,” tears rolled down Kelly’s cheeks, “I didn’t mean to… really. I’m sorry.”
“It’s ok.” Amy smiled. It’s ok! But she hit Spot!

Back at home, all Amy could talk about through dinner was Lippy, her Mum and Dad weren’t really listening until Amy said,“And he didn’t cost much,” Mum and Dad looked up and exchanged a look.
“Really?” Dad asked.
“Oh yeah, quite cheap actually.”
“And what did Spot think of… the rabbit?” Mum asked. Spot looked up at the sound of his name.
“No, he grunted at Lippy and didn’t like him at all.” Amy smirked.
“Oh.” Dad sighed.
“Why do you want to know any way?” Amy raised one eye brow. Dad looked at Mum.
“No reason.” Mum hurried into the kitchen.
“Come on bed time,” Dad stood up and shooed Amy upstairs. That night Mum and Dad didn’t go to bed until really late.

A couple of days later when Amy had got back from school, Dad was already home. Spot ran up to her and barked, she went into the kitchen and got a cookie from the big cookie tub.
“Hi Mum,” Amy blurted through a mouth full of biscuit. She swallowed and looked at the other end of the kitchen, “Hi, Dad.”
“Nice day at school?” Dad asked putting down his cup of tea.
“Not really, just boring as ever!” Amy laughed, taking another bite from her Cookie. Spot gazed up at the Cookie Tub hopefully, it was so full that Cookie’s were spurting out of the top! Spot licked his lips and for a moment Amy could have sworn that his pupils had turned into little choc chip cookies! He made a jump for the kitchen side, where the Cookie Tub sat and missed, he just had to try again! So he did, and you could say he got a Cookie… well a bit of a Cookie… or maybe just a crumb. Spot gave a disappointed sigh, then looked at Amy, everyone was silent, they were all laughing at him! Spot ran to the dinning room and tugged his lead down from the mantelpiece, then dragged it to Amy. He laid it at her feet, shook his collar and barked, as if to say, walk! Walk!
“Oh!” Amy dropped the rest of her Cookie, Spot gobbled it up! “I need to take Spot for a walk.
“Later Amy.” Dad took the lead off Spot. He whined and tried to grab it again. “We need to talk to you Amy about something first.” Dad went into the dining room and sat down around the table.
“Ok.” Amy sat down too, so did mum and Spot jumped onto the other seat and fell asleep. First Mum and Dad told Amy that they’d always love her no matter what happened and then announced that Mum was having a baby!
“Really?” Amy got up,
“Yes!” Dad got up.
“Would we really make a joke like that?” Mum got up.
“Come on sit down everyone.” Dad said, sitting back down, “We haven’t finished yet.” Amy sat down… she was overjoyed! She was going to have a little brother or sister!
“Is it going to be a girl or a boy?” Amy questioned,
“We don’t know yet,” Mum laughed, “We only found out four or five days ago!”
“Now Amy,” Dad looked serious.
“We’re not saying Spot’s a bad pet… but we just thought that when the baby’s growing up… me and your Dad thought that maybe…”
Mum looked at Dad.
“We could get a smaller pet… a… umm… a rabbit.” Dad mumbled. Spot jumped up, Rabbit! Did somebody say Rabbit!
“A Rabbit!” Amy shouted getting up and pushing the chair away, “No! Spot doesn’t like Rabbits!” Spot barked.
“He’ll get use to it!” Mum huffed.
Amy glared at her.
“How could you!” she screamed and ran upstairs, Spot jumped down and followed.

Amy lay on her bed crying, she was so upset. It was like her parents had betrayed her and Spot. She was overjoyed that she was going to have a little brother or sister… but she didn’t want a rabbit. She loved Spot and she was sure that the new baby would to… but obviously Mum and Dad didn’t think so!
“What do you think Spot?” Amy whispered, Spot grumbled as if to say… NO!
“Amy?” Dad slowly opened the door,
“Go away!” Amy shouted and buried her face in her pillow. Spot jumped off the bed and growled at Dad… he threw him a Cookie and Spot ate it like a Cat and Fish. Amy sat up and frowned at Dad, Dad sat down and put his arm around her…
“Don’t worry Amy… this is a good thing.” Dad smiled.
“If you say so.” Amy stared at Spot.

The next day after school when Amy got home Mum and Dad said that they were going to the pet store. Spot barked and jumped up at Dad. Pet store, food, toys and treat’s!
“No Spot… get down.” Dad huffed and sat him in his basket in the kitchen and shut the door on him. Spot jumped out of the basket and jumped at the door scratching and pushing against the big heavy piece of wood separating him and Amy. Amy walked back to the door and put her hand on the door handle,
“Can’t he come with us Mum?” Amy smiled,
“No Amy… any way you said that Spot didn’t like rabbits.” Mum took Amy’s hand off the door handle.
“Please?” Amy pleaded.
“No!” Dad shouted putting his coat on. Spot heard the front door open and then slam shut. He stopped scratching at the door and curled up in his nice, warm, soft basket. At the pet shop Amy went straight to the rabbit section. There was one little black doe rabbit, with lovely long soft ears, fluffy short fur and sweet sappier eyes. Another Ginger Buck rabbit, with very short ears, smooth silky fur, a little pink nose and it was quite small, the label on its cage said it was a Nether land Dwarf. Mum came over and bent down to look at the two baby rabbits.
“Where’s dad?” Amy asked.
“Just getting some stuff. You know food, water bottle, cage, straw, hay, saw dust… he said that you could choose a couple of treats and toys for it. Yes?” Mum raised her eyebrows.
“Whatever.” Amy huffed.
“I like the ginger one.”
“Kelly’s got a Ginger rabbit… if I get that one she’ll think that I’m copying her.” Amy looked at the Black one.
“Well I suppose it will be the black rabbit then.” Mum opened up the glass door and gently stroked the rabbit.

When everyone was home Dad started to unload all the rabbit’s stuff while Amy and Mum decided where to put the rabbit for now.
“Maybe in the Garage.” Amy suggested.
“No too cold,” Mum replied, “The Kitchen!”
“No!” Amy screamed making the little rabbit jump, “That’s were Spot’s basket is.”
“But Spot sleeps in with you Amy.” Dad said putting the cage down,
“But where will his basket go now?” Amy asked.
“The Garage.” Said Mum. Amy got up and stomped off to the kitchen. Let Spot out and ran upstairs in a mood.
“No body cares about you anymore Spot!” Amy hugged him, “But I do, and I always will!” Amy looked down at Spot, “What do you think we should call her, the rabbit?” Spot grumbled and looked at his paws.

“Amy?” Mum put her hand on the door handle, “Can I come in?” There was a long pause, then Amy muffled under her breath,“Fine.” Mum came in and sat beside Amy and Spot,
“Do you know what you’re going to call her?” Mum tried to smile. Amy just shrugged, “I don’t know.” She groaned.
“I was thinking of Tilly.” Mum looked at Spot lovingly.
“Fine.” Amy couldn’t be less bothered.
“Amy…” Mum put her arm around her little, sad daughter. “Even though we’ve got Tilly now… it doesn’t mean, well… that. What I’m trying to say is that me and your Dad will always care, love and treat Spot like we treat Tilly.” Amy perked up a bit… and thought she could be smart,“I never said that you wouldn’t.” she grinned. Mum smirked back and got up,
“What if we moved Spot’s basket up here?” she asked,
“Yes!” Amy shouted, “Yes that’s a brilliant idea!”
“So his name’s Tilly?” Amy asked holding her new pet in her arms,
“If you want it to be?” Dad stroked her.
“Yes… I like that name.” Amy smiled. Suddenly Spot started to scratch at the kitchen door and yapped to come in. Amy quickly passed Tilly to Dad and opened the door.
“No!” Mum shouted, but it was too late. Spot had seen Tilly and was barking madly at her.
“Spot! Shush! Your scaring Tilly!” Amy screeched grabbing Spot’s collar and pulling him away from her. Dad put Tilly in her cage and pulled Amy’s hand’s off Spot’s collar and replaced them with his own. He dragged Spot out and closed the kitchen door. Then all Amy heard was barking and Dad shouting at Spot and telling him to be quiet, bad dog and no! Mum held Amy close to her.
That night Spot slept in his basket under Amy’s bed.

The next day Dad decided to go out for lunch to a fancy restaurant.
“Is Spot coming?” Amy asked,
“No dogs allowed.” Mum shook her head.
“We’ll leave Tilly in her cage and Spot in the kitchen… so they can get use to each over.” Dad huffed.
As Amy tucked into her French roll, with melted cheese on top… she couldn’t stop worrying about Spot and Tilly.
As Dad opened the front door Amy rushed in to the kitchen. Tilly’s cage was wide open and there in Spot’s basket was Tilly and Spot curled up together.

"The Secrets of Narion: Spear of Thoughts: 1" By Jade M, Age 11, Year 7, Wadebridge School

The Secrets of Narion
Spear of Thoughts 1

Our world was once a peaceful place. But then the three Knights of Maren, Storm, Lightening and Thunder came and threatened to kill everybody. Our Araban’s, ruler of a secret world, made a deal with Storm Lightning and Thunder. We pledged to leave our world and only to come back if their knight’s leader, (Storm) was brought to death. But Storm is immortal and can only be killed by the Narion Spear of Thoughts. Everybody’s powerful thoughts are placed within the Spear. The more stronger minds… the more powerful the spear becomes. Now I am one of the Araban’s daughters and I, (Semya) and my two friend’s, Crina and Mea have ten days to find the Spear of Thoughts. If we do not then we have failed our quest.

“Slow down Semya!” Mea moaned as we trenched through the Tiemma desert, on our pet Elis. The myth of Elis is that they evolved from a creature called an elephant that is now enticed… but Eli’s are smaller and have a head and tail of another enticed creature called a lion. I think it’s nonsense really.
“I’m bored!” Crina huffed, folding his arms and then toppled backwards off his Eli.
“Stupid!” Mea shouted groaned.
“Oh my god!” I shouted, “You're sinking!”
It was true, Crina was sinking into the Tiemma Desert! I bent down and tried to reach my arm out to him… but suddenly the Sand started to rise and demolished Crina.
There was a long lonely silence and then a loud, clear shout.“Ha you guys.” It was Crina!
“You're alive!” I shouted,
“Jump and let yourself sink… there’s a river right below!” Crina bellowed again,
“NO WAY!” Mea sat tight on her Eli.
“Come on!” I smiled and as I jumped I grabbed onto Mea’s Eli’s leg and pulled. Mea went flying as her Eli madly jumped all over the place until he also started to sink.
“I’m never going to forgive you for this Semya!” Mea screeched at me.
“Lighten up a bit!” I laughed, as I slowly started to sink, until my legs dangled and were free of the sand. The sand raised and sucked me up. As I fell I expected to splash into the supposing river… but instead I landed on top of Crina and flattened him!
“Sorry!” I apologised, standing up into the river. Crina went to get up… but suddenly an, “Ahhh!” came from above and Mea fell and landed on top of Crina, sending him back to the rivers bed,.
“I think girls just mustn’t like me.” Crina huffed, shoving Mea off, so that she fell flat faced into the river.

“What now?” I pondered, looking around for something to help us, “There!” I shouted pointing to a note in a bottle, floating down the river.
“After it!” Crina shouted, splashing through the water, chasing after the bottle. Mea got up and tried to catch up with us. When we finally grabbed the bottle Crina read the note out loud.
“So you are smarter then we thought… but next of all you’ll have to be cunning and fast to find the golden tiger snake. Follow the river down until you come to Wallinda falls. P.S I am watching you.” A flutter of wings passed and we all turned around and gasped, who was watching us?

As we followed the river down we came to a barred gate.
“Well open it then!” Mea moaned.
“We don’t know what’s on the other side Mea.” I huffed.
“Move out the way!” Mea pulled at the gate, until it flung open, “There… how hard was that?” Mea smirked. As we walked through the gate we came to the edge of a Water Fall! We all gasped.
“Wallinda Falls!” Crina announced. “We’ve got to jump!” I looked at the over groan jungle below and held my nose.
“Se yeah!” I jumped off the edge and fell to the pool of water at the bottom of the Falls.
“Sem-yaaaa!” Crina screamed and jumped after me.
“What about me?” Mea groaned, then carelessly jumped, with arms and legs all over the place.

As we all clambered onto the jungle floor, we realised that we were surrounded by thick leaves and bushes of the jungle. Suddenly a long golden and orange striped snake, slivered across my feet.
“The Golden Tiger Snake!” I shouted pointing to it. It turned around and faced me, opening its mouth and hissing its long wavy tongue at us.
“Catchz ze.” It hissed as it shrank to the size of a pencil and slivered into the pool of water, at the bottom of the falls. Crina dived in closely followed by I.
“I’ll- um- just… I’ll just wait here.” Mea scratched her head. As I came up to the surface to breathe I saw the sneaky snake slivering towards the water fall. Suddenly Crina leapt out of the water from right beneath the snake and caught it in one hand.
“Catch!” he screeched, (with a mouth full of water) and threw it to me. I caught the snake by the tale and then launched it to Mea. As Mea leapt from the ground and stretched her arms out, my heart pumped faster and I held my breath for that second, that one, adrenaline rush second when Mea caught it in her hands and it turned into a solid ring of gold.

Crina and I climbed out of the water and placed our fingers on the ring.
We slowly started to go round and round until it was like we were in a whirl pool.
Soon I fell onto a hard surface, rocks. As I looked around I realised I was in a cave. I couldn’t see Crina… or Mea! Where were they? Suddenly a black beast appeared, with gigantic, strong wings and long, sharp, shining claws. It roared and puffed a ball of roaring hot fire. It was a Dragon!
